I read that at around 16 weeks of pregnancy, your baby can start hearing your voice when you speak or sing. As a singer, I’ve had every intention of singing to my baby during pregnancy and of course, after the baby is born. I also read that studies have shown babies who are sung to while in the womb recognize the same song when it’s sung to them after they’re born. When I read this, I became even more excited to start singing to my baby every day from here on out, even if it’s only for five minutes a day.
There are so many songs that are near and dear to my heart that I plan on singing during my pregnancy in the hopes my baby can hear me and will remember the song. Last night, while I was watching TV, I stumbled across the show “America’s Got Talent.” I watch it on occasion, but I’m not addicted nor do I watch it weekly. I caught it just in time to see some of the vocal performances and I watched a woman sing Elvis Presley’s, “I Can’t Help Falling in Love With You.” She sang it beautifully and I couldn’t help but to sing along a bit. I love that song and for the rest of the night it was stuck in my head. As I moseyed around the house singing and humming it; I decided it’s one of the songs I want to sing to my baby. It’s classic, it’s beautiful, and it’s true. I may only be 16 weeks along, but already I can’t help falling in love with my little butterball.
Above is my quick rendition of, I Can’t Help Falling in Love With You, sung especially for my little love!
