As a kid I remember shopping in big department stores with my parents. They always had the best deals and offered a huge variety of products to choose from. From Christmas and birthdays gifts to household items, most of what we purchased was from the big named department stores.
As an adult, I have to admit I tend to be drawn to smaller boutiques. Partly because as a busy mom I don’t always have a ton of time or patience to spend shopping at the mall where most of the department stores are. Let’s be honest here, life with a toddler can be crazy, so long trips to the mall are few and far between! But I was given a great opportunity to have my husband try out new line of men’s casual and performance wear clothing at JCPENNEY called MSX by Michael Strahan and review it.
I was given a gift card to go shopping and purchase a few pieces of clothing for my husband. Ideally I would have actually had my husband with me so he could try on the clothes, but our busy lives and schedules haven’t allowed us to hit the mall together, so I braved the mall with my toddler on a rainy day and went shopping for my husband. Lucky him!
I hadn’t been in a JCPENNEY in ages. It felt so much like old times as soon as I walked in. In fact, I kinda felt like a kid again, as I shopped there often with my parents growing up. I was able to find the MSX line immediately with the help of an employee. My first impression of the clothes was positive. While I saw pictures on their website, I wasn’t totally sure what to expect in terms of quality. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety and texture. They were soft and the tops were nice and light weight.
My daughter had a blast helping pick out clothes for daddy. She had to have a say too in what we chose, of course. I bought my husband a short-sleeved polo, a muscle tee and a pair of four way stretch shorts that seemed like they’d be super comfortable. In terms of size, he’s always either a small or medium in tops and a medium for bottoms, and I’m usually good at eyeballing something and knowing which to choose if he’s not with me.
I got him a size small on both tops and a medium on the shorts, and everything fits great. He likes the shorts and the polo shirt the best, and commented a few times on how comfortable the shorts were. He laughed a little at the muscle tee and said he hadn’t worn a men’s tank top in a while, which I knew, but I went for it because I thought it might be a great shirt for outdoor runs and hikes. I have to say this new style I’m not used to seeing him in looks great on him.
All in all I think the MSX by Michael Strahan is a great addition of men’s clothing at JCPENNEY. The quality is nice, they run true to size and the prices are very reasonable and affordable. My husband loves the shorts, and I think it all looks great on him.
In summary, I had a lot of fun shopping with my daughter at JCPENNEY. We browsed the entire store for quite a while, and made an afternoon out of it. Not only did my daughter enjoy helping pick out clothes for my husband, but she loooooved checking out their huge jewelry department. She lit up like a Christmas tree when she saw all the necklaces. She’s such a girl! It felt like old times being back in JCPENNEY, and I kind of felt like a kid again myself. I guess some things never change, even if you’ve been away from it for a long time, because I had just as much fun yesterday with my daughter as I did shopping there when I was a kid with my parents.
The next time you’re in the mall, be sure to stop into JCPENNEY and check out MSX by Michael Strahan and use the hashtag #MSXEverywhere for all your pictures!
