Aaah the holidays! The most wonderful time of the year! What could be better than spending time with the people you love the most?! This year Damon and I are hosting Thanksgiving dinner at our place. It’s the first time we’ll be hosting a big holiday, but we really enjoy cooking together and throwing dinner parties so we’re very excited about having the opportunity to cook for our families. We have a lot of food and desserts on our list to make and I’m excited to see how it all turns out.
The holidays have always been my absolute favorite time of year. Ever since I can remember Thanksgiving to New Years was a time that I always looked forward to. There is something extra special about the season that makes me giddy and happy inside. Spending time with family and friends, holiday parties, the lights, the music, the tree, the food, the snow…yes I mean snow! Personally I can’t imagine experiencing the holidays living anywhere else other than New England. It just wouldn’t be the same without that special chill in the air and the hope for the world to be decorated in white.
It truly breaks my heart when I hear people say they don’t like the holidays. Society has over commercialized the season, but that doesn’t mean the true meaning of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years has lost their meaning. It’s a time to truly be thankful for what you have and to be thankful for the things that make your life bountiful and happy. I try not to get lost in the hustle and bustle, and instead, I slow down and appreciate the things in life that we so often take for granted. My wonderful fiance. My family and friends. A roof over my head. A great job. Food everyday. Air in my lungs. Life. The next time you find yourself caught up in what you may not like, I dare you to take a few minutes to slow down and really take in the meaning and feeling of the holiday season. Find the spirit, hold onto it, and spread the cheer.
To family, friends, lovers, haters, and strangers…I’m sending you all my holiday cheer and hoping you find it contagious and share!
Happy Holidays!
