I recently had the opportunity to review a brand of alkaline water called Alkame. Now I’ll be very honest, I didn’t know much about alkaline water or its benefits before being asked to review it. So I did some research and I also consulted with a good friend who also happens to be a clinical nutritionist. Personally I found the science behind alkaline water very interesting, and I was curious to learn more about Alkame.
What I learned in my own research before agreeing to try Alkame is that alkaline water has 5 major benefits.
1. It Detoxifies the Body
2. It Hydrates the Body
3. It Oxygenates the Body
4. It Alkalizes the Body’s Ph
5. It Enhances the Body’s Immune System
After gulping down several bottles of Alkame during and after workouts I found that I really love the water. Now, I will say that I think I’d need to drink it on a regular basis to really notice the full list of benefits, but I definitely felt more energized and more hydrated than when I drink regular tap water. I specifically noticed a difference in my skin, especially my hands, which become brutally dry and cracked in the winter no matter how much water I drink. But after a week of drinking Alkame, they were much less dry and looked and felt better.
I also asked my husband to try Alkame as he’s an incredible athlete, and was a sponsored cyclist and mountain bike racer for years, so I trust his opinion greatly. He tried it out during one of our blizzard shoveling extravaganzas, and during a few indoor cycling workouts. In fact, I think he may have drank more bottles of the water than I did. He liked the water and even asked if I’d be getting anymore. So I think that goes without saying that he approves.
Alkame is also committed to our environment and uses innovative plastic technology. Their bottles are 100% recyclable and BPA free. If you’re interested to see how Alkame compares to other premium waters you can check out their comparison chart here!
Now I try to put myself in the paying customers shoes and ask, “Would I buy this product?” My answer is yes. I think it’s a great brand of alkaline water, it packs a lot of benefits and I love that it is environmentally friendly. So if you’re looking for a brand of water to really help hydrate, energize and that contains electrolytes but no sugars, I recommend giving Alkame a try.
