Most people run on coffee, and “can’t” function without their morning cup of Joe. But me, I run on smoothies and fresh green juice.
I never got into coffee much. Don’t get me wrong, it smells delicious, but once it hits my lips I think it’s gross, that is unless it’s loaded with a ton of sugar and cream. And I’m just not starting my morning off on the wrong foot with an unhealthy amount of sugar and cream. Not to mention the caffeine makes me jittery, dizzy and gives me headaches. So for me, there is zero appeal in having a cup of coffee. Once in a great while I’ll try some decaf, but it makes me feel just as crappy. So I stick to what I know and love, my homemade smoothies and juice!
Growing up we were always told, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away!” I always wondered if that statement was true, or if my parents were just trying to “scare” me into eating them. Now that I’m an adult and much more educated in health and fitness, I know there’s a lot of truth to it. Not just an apple a day, but eating a wide variety of healthy fruits and vegetables will in fact keep you healthy, and will help keep the doctor away.
Green apples aka Granny Smith Apples, are loaded with Vitamin C and Flavonoids that act as antioxidants. They also help regulate blood sugar, help aid in healthy weight loss and management. Granny smith apples also have a bit more potassium than other apples which is a vital electrolyte. They’re a great fruit to add to smoothies and juice because they taste great and are loaded with health benefits.
If you’re looking for something quick, easy and healthy to start your morning off right, help recover from a workout or simply fulfill a sweet snack craving, give my green apple a smoothie a try.
