Most bachelorette parties consist of bar hopping, crazy scavenger hunt games, and serious sexual paraphernalia. I’m not a big bar hopper and I wasn’t too interested in doing a typical bachelorette party. So, what’s a girl to do? Why not head to NYC with some of my girlfriends, and my mother of course, and have a girls weekend.
Roaming the streets of NYC checking out Rockefeller Center, Times Square, and Central Park with seven ladies was fun and adventurous. Some of the highlighted places and touristy things we did included visiting Madame Tussaunds, going to the top of the Empire State Building, seeing the Broadway show Mamma Mia, and eating at the famous Bouthouse restaurant in Central Park where several movies have been filmed including “When Harry & Met Sally” and “27 Dresses.”
The funniest part of the weekend was walking through the haunted house at Madame Tussaunds. None of us were expecting that portion of the attractions and none of us wanted to go first! Yes, we were all a bit “chicken” to walk through, and rightfully so! My friend Stefanie, Jennie, and I all huddled together leading the group. Just a few steps in something jumped out at us and screamed causing Stefanie to fall over into a curtain flat on the floor. We then had the ghosts and gobblins of the haunted house running over to make sure we were all OK. A few bruises, a little whip lash, and serious laughing matter we were still talking about it by the end of the weekend.
NYC challenges? Flagging down crazy NYC taxi’s (my mothers personal favorite), waiting for the Metro, and making sure our group of seven was together and accounted for. All in all the weekend was a fun success! I owe a huge and special thanks to my sister-in-law aka my MOH who planned the weekend and took time away from her busy schedule to partake in the craziness! It’s a weekend that will go down in the books!
