Good morning bloggers, followers and friends. Seeing as we don’t all get notified when a new page has been created, and only when a new blog has been posted, I wanted to share a quick post to inform my followers as to what’s new on my creative space in the internet world.
In the last couple of weeks I’ve created a few new pages including:
Susie’s Smoothies which is a page dedicated to my homemade smoothie recipes. So far I’ve added three of my favorites, but I’ll continue to add to this page so feel free to check back periodically. Please note that a few weeks ago I signed up for erecipe.com and have been adding my smoothie recipes and Kitchen Creations there. Once I figure out if and how to add erecipe to my blog, I will.
Susie Q Singer is a page for my mommy followers that will include songs and musical ideas to do with your little ones. I’m a singer with a degree in songwriting from Berklee College of Music, and I definitely have days where I miss making music. My baby girl absolutely loves when I sing to her, and most babies respond positively to music. I’m looking forward to sharing some ideas with you all, and turning you ALL into Singing Musical Mommies (good voice, musical or not)!
Mommy Tips & Tricks is a page I finally made “public” last night, and the name says it all. It’s solely dedicated to tips & tricks for all the mom’s out there. After sharing this page on both my private and public Facebook page, I had a bunch of positive feedback plus a few new tips that I’d love to add. I’ve now decided that if any of my mommy followers have tips they’d like to share, I will happily list them on this page, include your name and include a link to your blog if you have one. So, if you have any tips or tricks that you’d like me to include, please feel free to email me at slparke@gmail.com.
So what else is new with Susie Q? In addition to my new pages, I’ve officially been accepted as a writer with a few different blogging companies. After a lot of hours spent researching, networking with successful writer friends (new and old), submitting writing samples and (im)patiently waiting, I’m now writing and blogging from home and getting paid for it. My last job consisted of a lot of business writing – it was writing that for me got mundane and lacked creativity. Once I left, I kept telling my husband I just wanted to blog, be creative and get paid for it so I could stay home with our daughter. Truth be told, I don’t need to go back to work – financially my husband can support us. But I don’t want to take all that for granted, and I’m still the same career driven woman I was before I became a mom. I want to financially contribute to our family – I just want to stay home with my daughter while doing it. Simply stated – I want to spend my days playing with my kid and teaching her new things, and then hop on my laptop at night and do what I’ve always loved to do – be creative and write! I’ve busted my hump to make this happen.
In addition to the immediate opportunities I have going is, in the last few weeks, I’ve been contacted by someone at the New York Times, and by a press company about the possibility of writing and publishing a book. I’m not sure where these leads will take me, but I’m excited to see what’s next. On my About Sue page, I wrote, “What started off as an online diary in May 2010 of my thoughts has spiraled into a blogging career.” I always assumed it was just the “Carrie Bradshaw’s” of the world living a fancy New York style life writing for big time Magazines that could actually blog for living, turns out I was wrong. Turns out if you work hard enough and want it bad enough, that you can make it happen.
Sitting in my blog “drafts” is a post called “The Stay at Home Money Making Mommy.” I haven’t written a single word in it yet because I’ve been so busy with everything I have going on, but someday, when I’ve wrapped my head around all of this, I will write it and publish it. Who knows, maybe that’ll be my first book! Until then, I want to once again thank my many friends, followers and supporters who I’ve connected with over these last four years.
