My mother has always said to me, “Wow, you really know how to pamper yourself!” Well, she’s right. I’m a firm believer that pampering yourself helps aid in a healthy lifestyle physically and mentally. We all need to unwind, relax, and escape a little from our every day routines and stresses. So how do I pamper myself and how often? From Massages and facials to manicures and pedicures I pretty much indulge in it all.
When is comes to massages I tend to keep up with them pretty frequently as they really help relieve tension, knots, and tight muscles that I get from working out. I tend to get massages anywhere from once every four to eight weeks. I enjoy deep tissue, sports, relaxation, and hot stone. I have two favorite massage therapists. One is my dear friend Erin and who lives close by (Southern, NH) so often times she brings her massage table right to my house and I enjoy the luxury right in my own home. My other favorite massage therapist is Mia at Stowe Village Massage & Wellness Center in Stowe, VT. Both ladies are absolutely fabulous!
I keep up with facials about every eight to ten weeks. Not only are they relaxing, but they really help hydrate your skin, get rid of old dead skin cells (gross I know), and unclog pores. I go one place and one place only for my facials and that’s N’Vie Skincare in Billerica, MA. I usually see Maureen, but all the ladies at N’Vie are amazing. I won’t go anywhere else for my skin and waxing needs!
Mani’s and pedi’s are a must for every girl! I mean let’s be honest, who doesn’t love going to a nail salon, soaking your feet in a tub of warm soapy water, and having someone massage and paint your feet. There are several places I like going for mani/pedi’s, but I recently found a new place called Pro Nails & Spa on the Lowell/Dracut (MA) line that I am loving. The salon is beautifully decorated and super clean inside. All the ladies are friendly and funny, and so far I’ve had great experiences. In the summertime I get pedicures anywhere from every three to four weeks. Manicures I don’t do quite as often and typically now I only do them to clean up my cuticles and trim and shape my nails. While on the topic of manicures I have to put in my “two cents” regarding Gel and Shellac. I’ve had several of these done at various different places, and while my nails always look fab and they last longer I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone. Each and every time I get a gel or shellac it completely ruins my nails; which are actually very healthy. The polish literally strips layers of my nail off and without fail it takes about three months for my nails to grow back out to normal. I was planning to get a gel or shellac for my wedding, but at this point I’ve decided not to do so. Everyone always thinks I have a french mani even when I don’t, including the nail tech I just had this past weekend, so I’ll be keeping them all natural!
Another ways I like to pamper myself and unwind are taking hot baths with candle light and music. Nothing relaxes me more than a good hot bath and typically if I take one before bed I sleep like a baby. I find all of these things really help me keep a healthy mind, body, and soul. So pamper yourself pretty, it’s all in good health, trust me!
