I consider myself to be pretty picky when it comes to food, and I typically prefer meals that are homemade down to the last ingredient. I’m sort of a bonafide food snob. This past spring I was given a free sample package of Flatout Flatbread Wraps, and instantly fell in love. So when I spotted their Artisan pizza crusts two months ago in the grocery store, I decided to give them a whirl. Now, growing up in an Italian household, I almost always make my own tomato sauce and Italian dishes from scratch using all fresh ingredients. I’m talking so homemade that not one single ingredient comes from a can or jar. However, as a stay at home mom, freelance writer, blogger and housewife, homemade isn’t always possible.
I’ve made pizza using the Flatouts three or four times now; I love experimenting with the different crusts and being innovative with my toppings. Last Sunday we had a mini impromptu football party and luckily, I had enough ingredients to throw together a few pizza’s. They were a huge hit, and I decided since it’s Friday, I’d share one of my favorite pizza concoctions thus far.
• Spicy Italian Flatout Artisan Pizza Crust
• Nature’s Promise Organic Garden Veggie Sauce
• Shredded Off the Block Mozzarella Cheese
• Chopped Kale
• Cherry tomatoes sliced in half
• Chopped Mushrooms
• Chopped yellow onion
Directions: I think pizza is pretty self explanatory, but I baked these for about 30 minutes until the veggies and crust were nice and crispy. Personally I love baking it long enough for the kale to get crunchy. I cut them into little triangles which makes for perfect finger food appetizers. Side note, the spicy Italian crusts definitely have a kick to them, so in my opinion (and my husbands too), you really don’t need any extra seasonings.
These are super easy to make, delicious and have proven to be the perfect finger food for any party or get together. Of course, you can make your pizza however, you like, I’m simply just sharing a healthy recipe that my family and I love 😉
