I love chocolate. Then again, who doesn’t?! I also love mint. The way it smells, the way it tastes and its many nutritional benefits including promoting healthy digestion. The combination of chocolate and mint together never lets me down in the delicious department.
I’ve experimented several times with making a chocolate mint smoothie, but I have to admit, it was trial and error before I actually mastered it. My first go at it I used mint extract, and I was completely overpowered with mint that I couldn’t taste anything else. Needless to say, I didn’t share that recipe. That’s part of fun experimenting, though, and I think I’ve finally nailed down. So here’s my recipe for a chocolate mint smoothie.
- 1 cup of coconut water
- 1 tbsp of unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 frozen banana chopped into cubes
- 4-5 fresh mint leaves
- 1/4 of crushed ice
- I put the coconut water in my Ninja first and then toss the rest of the ingredients in. Blend until everything is mixed thoroughly. Garnish with a few mint leaves.
- I always chop up my bananas, place them in a plastic bag and freeze them. I usually keep a stash in my freezer so I always have them on hand.
This is a refreshing, delicious and healthy smoothie, and the coconut water and banana make it a perfect post workout recovery drink. So drink up and enjoy it guilt-free! But don’t drink it too fast, or you’ll get a brain freeze like I did 🙂
As with every Friday, I hope the day finds you well and the weekend treats you right!
