I love jump starting my week with a good ass kicking, especially one with family and friends. Yesterday, I had originally debated on taking a 7:30am spin class, but when I woke up and saw sun shining in a cloudless blue sky, I knew it wasn’t going to happen, plus my husband was itching to get outside. Then a friend of mine whose daughter is a mere 17 days younger than my little cherub asked if I wanted to go for an early morning walk. Instead, my husband and I invited them to come for a hike on the awesome trails that pretty much start in our backyard. There are miles and miles of trails with different terrain all that offer really beautiful views and scenery.
My favorite workouts are those done outside. Whether it be running, hiking, walking, skiing and even doing planks and pushups in the grass. With pregnancy being my exception, it’s rare to find me on a dreadmill or an elliptical. I’ve been known to run in the pouring rain or in 0 degree weather in the dead of winter – brrrr! I love being outside, and no matter what, I will always choose an outdoor workout over of being stuck inside a gym using machines starring out the window. Because why stare out a window admiring what’s out there when you can actually be out there?!
I tend to be a bit obsessive when it comes to tracking my distance and pace, but between the hill climbs, swamps and trees my gps lost signal, so my Strava app didn’t get an exact mileage. But regardless of my unknown distance, I broke a damn good outdoor sweat and scored over 10k steps on my Fitbit. all before 11am. There’s no better way to start off a fresh new week with a steptastic sweattastic Sunday with family and friends!
