Wow – how is it already February?! I feel like every month time speeds up a little faster, and I’m left flipping my calendar wondering where the days and hours have gone. January kick started my year in the right direction and I’m excited for what I’ve accomplished so far and what else is to come.
Last week I was excited to receive an email from Blogher stating they were featuring one of my more recent fitness posts. I’ve written a lot about pregnancy, prenatal and postpartum fitness, as it’s a topic that’s near and dear to my heart. So receiving such positive feedback and learning it made a positive impact was an honor. My hope and goal with all of my posts is to inspire, connect and motivate others. Whether it’s simply giving someone the extra push or motivation to eat healthier and exercise, or making someone laugh and shake their head, “YES!” in one of my mommy posts, my goal is to connect with you on some level.
I was also thrilled last week, to accept a part time position with a new start up company called Gociety, a web and mobile based social network designed to inspire and motivate you to get outside with active people, simply and spontaneously. Their motto, “Get outside and be awesome!” As an outdoor and fitness activist, everything about the company excites me. It’s free to join, and once you do, you can start finding and creating outdoor activities where other people can join you. From anything to a run or hike to back country skiing and rock climbing, there is an outdoor activity for everyone no matter what your level of fitness or expertise. I’m psyched to be part of their team of outdoor and fitness enthusiasts, and to help them grow the company in the Boston area. So what are you waiting for? Sign up and join us! 🙂
So, what’s on tap for February? Well, as I’ve posted a few times on on my Facebook page and updated in my SM bio’s, I have been studying and training for my primary group fitness exam through AFAA. So in three short weeks I’ll be putting my studying and knowledge to the test! It’s a long 9 hour day consisting of a review, a practical exam, teaching a class and a written exam. I think the hardest part will be waiting 4-6 weeks for my results. This is something I’ve wanted to do for ten years and every time I went to the website, I found an excuse not to. I decided last year that being a stay at home mom was the perfect opportunity to stop the excuses and make it happen.
So, here’s new a year and a new career that I love while still being able to be a stay at home mom!
