Well, another summer has come and gone, and fall and its cool crisp weather has officially taken over. But that’s not a reason to pack away your sneakers and workout gear. In fact, for me, it’s the time of year I enjoy working out the most. Knowing the holidays are coming is added motivation to keep my body moving and my diet healthy.
While I definitely favor running as my main form of exercise; I have a huge love and appreciation for bodyweight training. Not only does it complement my running and overall strength and fitness, but it can be done anywhere, anytime with zero equipment.
The benefits to bodyweight training are immense. For example, did you know that just a few minutes of bodyweight training a day can have a major positive impact on the body’s metabolism, helping to aid in weight loss and management? As a certified group fitness instructor, I incorporate a ton of bodyweight training in each of my classes, and I find it to be far more effective than using machines at the gym.
So no excuses, kids! Don’t let the colder weather scare you away from your workouts and exercise routines. Make sure to keep up with your fitness this fall and winter by adding some bodyweight training to your workout routine, and eat a few burpees for breakfast everyday like me!
