As the days grow colder and shorter, it becomes more difficult for most of us to get outside and get our bodies moving, myself included. Although I train outdoors in the dead of winter, I’d be lying if I said it is easy to get up and get going every time. But as hard as some days are to motivate myself, it’s always worth it!
One thing I am constantly reminding myself of every day, and one thing I often remind the members in my group exercise classes, is just how lucky we are to be alive and have the ability to move. Whether we’re walking or running or squatting or planking – we are blessed to have another day and we are blessed to be able to get up and move. Yes? YES!
November is a month that we’re all reminded to give thanks – for our families, our friends and all our many blessings. So why not give thanks to our bodies this month too? Look at yourself in the mirror and appreciate your body for everything that it is. Instead of focusing on what you might not like about yourself, give thanks to the strong body you have that carries you through each and every day, and allows you to live and breath and move. It’s a beautiful thing people!
I created a super easy and doable outdoor challenge if you’re up for it. It’s 5 times a week of walking, running or hiking outside. Not on the treadmill, not in the mall – outside! Breath the outdoor air, take in the surroundings, feel the ground under your feet and just move. It doesn’t really matter how far you go – just go. On the days you’re resting, appreciate the work you’ve done knowing that you are beautiful, strong and capable of all you put your mind to. This month, give 30 days of thanks to yourself by appreciating all that you are and getting outside and celebrating life!
Happy November and happy moving!
